Back in October, we took a look at the Best Horror Movies of the New Millennium during this year’s 31 Days of Horror. Leading up to that, we went through and did lists for the Best of 70's, 80's, and 90's Horror, because it was something that needed to be done, and it got us into the mindset to do the same for the 00's and 10's. Now that we're done with our October celebration, it's time to do full lists for both decades (even though one of them is only halfway over.)
It's not easy trying to decide which are the "Best" movies of any 10 year period, and these lists may not be perfect, but they are at least a good representation of the finest that the Horror Genre has to offer.
Carry on...
The big story of the decade so far is that Horror is big on TV. Shows like The Walking Dead, American Horror Story, Ash vs. Evil Dead, Hannibal (and about 50 other Horror & Genre properties) have dominated our DVR's, and entertained us week in and week out... and the trend doesn't look to be slowing down at all.
On the movie side of the Horror fence, it's VOD that has taken over and given life to many smaller Horror flicks. Many of the smaller, more Indie efforts can now find more viewers across multiple platforms, which allows them to make more of a profit, which allows films of their kind to keep being made, which allows fans like us to keep enjoying them. VOD is the new Video Store, and it is a great thing.
Of course, remakes, Found Footage, and B-grade movies are more plentiful than ever, but any Horror fan knows that you always have to sift through a ton of garbage to get to the gold.
At the halfway point of the decade, we can honestly say that Horror has been very good to us over the last five years. We've been given some excellent films to enjoy, and if things keep going the way that they are, 2016-2019 will be even better.
So here are the 50 Best Horror Movies of the 2010’s. If you’re looking to explore the genre, then these are the movies of The New Millennium that you should start with. The movies in the Top Six are timeless and essential (at least to us), but so are many of the ones that make up the rest of the 50. You should really explore them all.

*Most of the links go to Amazon so that you can stream or grab yourself a copy of the movies; or in the case of some of the older & more obscure titles, IMDB, because they simply aren't available to stream or purchase.

- We've included a few more obscure movies in the Honorable Mention section below, because they're favorites of ours, and we always urge people to check them out.
